Thing 13: 21st Century Conference
The conference I “attended” was “Never Too Young“. The title grabbed my interest right away. As a kindergarten teacher it is challenging to find a way to utilize many of these Web 2.0 ideas in an age-appropriate manner. This conference explained some wonderful classroom ideas and demonstrated uses specifically for the K-2 student population. One of the tools introduced was Dipity, an organizational time-line. At first, I thought this would be way beyond practical use in a K class but Sharon Betts stated with examples just for kindergarten. You can make flip-books and scan pictures of the students artwork. I really liked her idea of using Dipity to create a timeline for the months of the year. I always teach my students a poem for each month, so this could be added, as well as curriculum highlights with photos. I wonder if you can add your own music because it would be great to have the children sing and add that to the timeline. I’m excited to explore this site some more and see all that it can do.

You just keep distracting me from my own list! Now I’m going to have to go and “attend” “Never Too Young.” Hmm…maybe on the porch in the mountains next week…
